Blog Post Four!
2. Open educational resources that are open or available to anyone. They are resources that anyone is able to use, whether it be a lesson plan or video that teachers have made. There is usually a license that is approved which states that the OER is able to be used by anyone. Simply stated OER is an approved online source that is free for everyone to use at their own leisure. Here is a link that I found about ORE and there even is a video included. https://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2017/03/29/what-is-oer-5-questions-about-open-oer.html
I found it to be really helpful and educational.
3. I really enjoyed making the newsletter. It took me a lot of time to make it and to get all the needed points within it. At some points I was really frustrated with this because I had to google how to figure out some things and get it all worked out but after a couple of hours I got everything settled. I think that my newsletter was pretty well done. There are a couple things that I could have fixed for next time, the spacing out of things is a pretty major problem that I ran into. I started making the newsletter before I found all the requirements, I was over half way through when I realized all the things that I needed to keep included which was frustrating. Next time I definitely know to look out for the required elements within all the projects. I learned a lot of things while working on the newsletter, I will definitely be using the mail merger aspect within my future job. I think it will even prove as helpful while trying to mail our Christmas cards and invitations of other sorts.
4. I commented on Hayley Singers and Malyce's blog.
Olivia,
ReplyDeleteI too got frustrated making the newsletter, as this one was the first one I have ever made. But, overall I think the assignment went well and was a great skill to learn for the future. Your newsletter looks awesome! I love all the colors and designs, really helps it stand out.
Let me just begin by saying your newsletter looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteWhen reading your post, I felt I could relate on the topic of online courses. I too was afraid of the expectations of an online course as I like to ask questions and be face to face with my professors. As I got the hang of things I became more comfortable as well!
Your newsletter is so cute! You must have spent a lot of time on it. It literally looks just like a newsletter one would find at an elementary school (complete with Comic sans)! Also, I totally agree with you on mail merge. When my supervisor taught me how to use it last year, I was so happy. I had over 50 emails to send out, and I wanted to personalize all of them, which would have taken FOREVER without mail merge!
ReplyDeleteHey! I can relate a lot to this post because my first online class here was ARH 200 0 too! I learned a lot from that class being online because it didn't require much from us but allowed me to get a good idea of how an online class works. Your newsletter looks amazing and I think that spacing is always hard to accomplish on projects like these. But this assignment allowed us to learn new techniques and get better at things that we struggled on before! Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Olivia! I really related to what you said about your prior online learning experience. While I love the independence and choices that online courses allow a student, I typically prefer classroom learning myself as well. But I do think that there are plenty of ways to imitate this in the online classroom environment. Personally, I find recorded video lectures extremely helpful. I also believe that having an open chat room during "office hours" would be extremely helpful and allow students to ask questions for a better understanding.
ReplyDeleteHi Olivia. I enjoyed reading your blog post. I agree that online courses, especially in college, can be intimidating but once you get into the swing of things it's not too bad. I really liked the article you found about OER and I loved your newsletter design. You put a lot of effort into the newsletter and it shows!
ReplyDeleteHi Olivia! I liked reading your blog post and hearing your thoughts on the questions asked this week. I similarly discussed how my first online class/experience was in college taking an online class through Canvas, the asynchronous communication method utilized. Your newsletter looks amazing and it took me sometime to figure out too which was frustrating, but in the end, I was glad to have learned new educational technology tools to implement in my future classroom. Do you think you're going to implement newsletters in your future classroom? How often? Good job!
ReplyDeleteHi olivia! Your newsletter came out SO good! I love it! I found it interesting that you had not taken an online course until college as my highschool had a requirement to take an online course to graduate :) I also totally agree with you regarding your newsletter, I too had to google things and ask for help with this assignment. Loved your post!
ReplyDeleteHey Olivia,
ReplyDeleteI had the same experience when I took my first online course at FSU. You brought up a great point about how much easier the course got when you started understanding the LSM. I am a big fan of Canvas because it is very easy to follow and is formatted very well. As a result of this superb formatting, it is easier to catch on to the work and know what you need to do. It is also really easy to communicate to the instructor and everyone in the class. Overall, you had a great blog!
Hi, Olivia
ReplyDeleteI completely understand why you prefer face-to-face classes. But I hope I can make this online course easy for you. Please feel free to ask your questions anytime. I am just an email away.
